This website was developed as part of a project aiming to recreate a GeoCities-style site using historically accurate methods (both software and design choices/aesthetics).  It was created over the course of two weeks using NetObjects Fusion 1.0.

Process and Final Thoughts

I chose this particular topic to build the site around both because of my personal interest and its relevance to the historical period when GeoCities was still highly active.

Developing this website using NetObjects was a significantly different experience compared to skills taught in modern web development courses. NetObjects is a primarily visual-based editor, which practically eliminates the need to know HTML, and to my knowledge, version 1.0 has no support for either CSS or JavaScript, making content taught in most modern courses irrelevant when working with this particular piece of software.

Compared to GeoCities users building their websites in the past, my experience was likely made significantly easier by the abundance of resources online (both for inspiration and more technical questions), making the development process much quicker.
